‘A Home Away from Hom’ Kahn/Selesnick
Nicholas Kahn and Richard Selesnick have been Kahn/Selesnick since 1988. Their approach is truly unique – through installations and photography they “document” fictional stories/histories set sometimes in the future, sometimes in past. In 2007 they created “evidence” for the existence of Eisbergfreistadt (Free iceberg city) – a city/state formed on an iceberg off the coast of Germany, during the great hyperinflation in 1923. In Mars: Adrift on the Hourglass Sea, their latest installation/photo reportage, they used photo mosaics from two NASA space rovers, pictures of desert landscapes in Utah and Nevada and their own sculptures/installations to create both feelings of familiarity and strangeness. Their works has always had a strong reference to our own world, and you will not regret reading an interview with them, about Mars and other things.
